Endless Summer® (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Balimer') changed what gardeners could expect from a bigleaf hydrangea. Instead of one early flush that a late frost could erase, it sets full, rounded mophead blooms continuously across the season. The flowers open in clear blue or rich pink depending on your soil, riding above glossy deep-green leaves on a tidy, rounded shrub that matures to about 4 feet tall and wide. It is the kind of plant that anchors a shady border, softens a foundation, and fills a vase all summer long.
