Collection: Zone 5 Plants

Zone 5 winters run -20°F to -10°F, and 245 of our plants handle it — more than half the catalog. This is the zone where Japanese maples, reblooming hydrangeas, butterfly bush, smoke bush and Thuja Green Giant all become reliable, alongside every evergreen from the colder zones. If you garden in Zone 5 you can grow most of what you see in magazines. Each plant is garden-center quality, shipped nationwide, and guaranteed to arrive alive and thriving.

Planting in Zone 5? Watch late frosts more than deep cold. Early-blooming trees can lose a season of flowers to a mid-April freeze, so give them a spot that warms up slowly rather than the sunniest wall in the yard.
