Zone 7 winters dip to between 0°F and 10°F, and 315 of our plants — the largest selection after Zone 8 — will grow there. It is arguably the best gardening zone in the country: cold enough for Japanese maples, lilacs and peonies that need winter chill, warm enough for camellias, tea olive, wax myrtle, windmill palm and hardy citrus like Yuzu. Planting in Zone 7? You can grow both northern and southern plants, but not in the same spot. Give chill-loving plants your coolest, shadiest corner and save the warm south-facing beds for the subtropicals.
